Welcome to Allen Memorial United Church

The North Athens Methodist Church had it beginnings in the summer of 1888 when Mrs. Ruth Sharp taught a Sunday school class in her home.

The first church was built in 1905-06 and was called the North Athens Methodist Episcopal Church.  In 1942 the name of the church was changed to Allen Memorial Methodist Church in honor of Mr. John Allen, who was a generous supporter of the church.

In 1951, the church relocated to the present location.

In 1968 the Methodist Church merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church forming the United Methodist Church.

The new sanctuary was completed in 1988 when the Reverend Ogle Wattenbarger was pastor.
